Barber, Jonathan, teacher of elocution in Yale College

The elocutionist, consisting of declamations and readings, in prose and poetry; for the use of colleges and schools

Published by Hezekiah Howe and A. H. Maltby. Printed by Hezekiah Howe., New Haven. 1829, xi, 359p., first edition 7x4.3 inch full calf boards are rubbed and worn with joints cracked but hinges holding. Spine label presumably gone missing, leaving no shadow or scar. Within, expect pervasive foxing, several small ink splashes, and two interesting ownership legends by William Willoughby: holograph in sepia nib with a fine subscript flourish, dated year of publication; and a tiny old delicate rubberstamp on the following leaf. Good copy.
