The great sieges of history, a new edition including the siege of Paris

George Routledge and Sons, Limited, London. no date, 1890s, 742p., inserted b&w plates, terminal ad leaves, later printing of the 1871 first, with new material (but lacks the chromolith plates of early printings). Bevelled boards in red cloth titled and decorated gilt, panelled in black and blind with blue spot-color. Both hinges cracked, front hinge severely (but holding), spine a little dim, small frayed spot at the tail, a presentable copy, looks good on the shelf, easy to handle. Find a school prize certificate on pastedown opposite dinky original photograph 1.5x1.8 inches laid down on the free endsheet. Photo is contemporary with item, in sepia, mounted on square of paper with printed border, shows wall of a dreary building (the awarding school, no doubt).
