Combe, William

The diabo-lady, or, a match in hell, a poem dedicated to the worst woman in His Majesty's dominions. A new edition, with large additions

Printed for Fielding and Walker, London. 1777, iv, 32 p., wraps, disbound, mild foxing, generally a clean example. Dedication begins: "Madam, or, my lady, as I am happily but little acquainted with Ladies in high life, I confess myself perfectly ignorant either of your rank or demerits; which has reduced me to the aukward necessity of this vague and indefinite address." Combe made his fame with the Diaboliad, the precursor of this work, though many of his later years were spent in debtor's prison.
