Eric Partridge Ltd. at the Scholartis Press / Houghton Mifflin Company, London / Boston. 1930, xii, 160p., letterpress on cassiobury, first edition clothbacked boards with paper spine label, casing is exceedingly worn, all edges rounded with card showing, the spine lettering completely eroded. Hinges sound, a useful reading copy of a book that appeared in an edition of 1460 only; bookplate inside front cover. The story, novelized in pastels, of a courtesan executed for political reasons. Maude Meagher published several and more notable novels. With a fellow Berkeley artist she hand-built possibly the largest "secular" adobe building in the US which Yehudi Menuin loved to play in because of the acoustics.
