Dommen, Arthur J.

Conflict in Laos, the politics of neutralization

Frederick A. Praeger, Publishers, New York. 1965, xiv, 338p., three line maps; second printing red cloth boards gilt in dj; unclipped jacket is a little edgeworn, an entirely clean sound copy. Dommen charges that unrest in Laos is Vietnamese-caused. The book appears to be a possible ringer, one of hundreds of texts commissioned by CIA (admitted post hoc when massive ties to US journalism were unearthed), quite often through Praeger. Dommer's vita says he "was Bureau Manager for UPI in Saigon and Hong Kong from 1959 to 1963. He has travelled extensively throughout Indochina, and knows the leaders and the peoples. In 1963-64, he was Press Fellow at the CFR," &c &c. For a while "Conflict in Laos" was widely distributed: there was a third printing, in 1967
