Pastel black / coverage a poem in color

author, no place. 2008, Conceptual art consisting of a small pocketed folder (7x5 inches) with inserted colorswatch cards and printed mission statement-- an oblique one. The folder displays a single-panel color photo of a vast brushfire in a mountainous residential district (one of last decade's coastal too-close- to- L.A. blazes, we think) and folds out to show a comfortable interior, perhaps of one of the fine homes that burnt to a crisp. Nine cards are enclosed eight of which laid out like paintshop swatches with various shades of ash and soot black, swatch names each a line of poetry. Ninth card is a fuzzy photo of what we know not what. The author's enclosed leaf says the item is first of four such, recipient will receive an additional three "because you are an artist, thinker, or otherwise gifted person, and I respect and enjoy your work. Consider this a token of my gratitude." Rear panel of folder is initialed and numbered in ink, this set no. 37 of 100cc. Very good . Paint names also numbered; text portion of the first card reads, "Homes Destroyed / Evacuations Under way / Celebrities Displaced"
