Farrar Straus and Cudahy, New York. 1959, xvii, 232p., clothbacked hardcover in dj, jacket price was torn off roughly otherwise a sound clean very good copy of the first edition; it is inscribed and signed by Don Levine on the half-title to people "who made our visit to California and Oakland so delightful" &c &c, datelined March 1960 in a city illegibly written, looks like "New Monterey" where Army Language School / Defense Language Institute is located]. Assassin of Trotsky; Levine draws on "an original study in four volumes totalling 1400 pages based upon daily six-hour interviews with the assassin conducted by Alfonso Quiroz Cuaron, the criminologist-psychologist for the Mexican Dept of Justice. Mr. Levine made many trips to Mexico to gather material." Long-time anti-communist Levine began his propaganda career in the early 1930s, here displays a habitually disrespectful bias that styles trotskyists "trotskyites." That Quiroz Cuaron's interviews involved such standardized tests as Word Response, see p.183
