The Homeless Writers Coalition, Mundon Ryder, chief editor, chairman & founder

The homeless writers coalition presents "The word" : the voice of an American third world community. Issue no. 1

published monthly by the Coalition, North Hollywood. 1989, [54]p., reproduced from editor's italic typewriter-set text, untrimmed staplebound 8x7 inch self-wraps; very good copy. Last page (following local ads) shows photoportrait of young African American editor / contributor Ryder, who has signed and inscribed alongside in ballpoint. About half are editor's texts: he contributes a 3-page editorial; essays "To his daughter" and an unsparing psychological self-analysis "Little one;" he conducts an interview with one Clyde Casey (started a drop-in cafe/theatre "Another Planet" in LA's skid row); and has a couple of poems. Also represented are authors Southern Comfort, Dino, Alexander, Scott Dumas, David Lee Hughes, and Thomas Whitehorn
