Lyle, Rev. W. W.

Lights and shadows of army life: or, pen pictures from the battlefield, the camp, and the hospital

R. W. Carrol & Co., Publishers, Cincinnati. 1865, xii, 403p., several leaves publisher's ads, first edition panelled cloth boards. Quite edgeworn with some fraying at head and tail, spine gilt dim to illegibility, some trivial pencil tics within, hinges and textblock still very sound with original endpapers, no signs of sophistication or any "improvements;" but it does look like a front blank was removed. Lyle was chaplain to the Eleventh regiment O. V. I. He was present at major battles and describes, and seems to understand, field operations as well as his ministry.
