Futtowaaku Shuppan, Tokyo. 1993, 180, 18p., illustrated with cartoon figures, text in Japanese, very good reprint paperback in green pictorial wraps. The author was an internist for the Kinki area Health Center. The preface urges readers to not make the mistake of considering themselves immune while at the same time dispelling irrational fears about the dangers of AIDS. Contents include a chapter urging readers to get tested, explaining the procedure in detail and what the results mean; a chapter explaining AIDS prevention strategies (e.g. how "going on sex tours is suicidal," how anal sex is "strictly off limits," and how people should use snug Japanese-made condoms only); and a chapter on AIDS treatment. A substantial final section discusses the AIDS crisis around the world, noting how the disease has spread and what particular problems have been encountered in Africa, South America, Australia, the US, Asia, and Europe - and what these examples can tell Japan.
