... and Spain sings; fifty Loyalist ballads adapted by American poets

The Vanguard Press, New York. 1937, xx, 123p., first edition printed paper over boards in dj; shelfworn casing with a nibble at head of spine panel, end papers browned, previous owner's name and [unusual] book plate on front blank end papers, dj lightly chipped with a tanned spine. Entirely in English, by American poets who translated and adapted works by their Spanish counterparts, contributing to this volume in order to raise funds for the North American Committee to Aid Spanish Democracy. The American poets include Genevieve Taggard, Muriel Rukeyser, Edna St. Vincent Millay, William Carlos Williams, Stanley Kunitz, Millen Brand and others; Rolfe Humphries appears to have done the lion's share, with Williams a close second
