Dobunshoin, Tokyo. 1989, viii, 164p., very good first edition trade paperback in pictorial wraps. Text in Japanese. Written by Professor of Education at Chiba University; one of the first books on AIDS education in Japan. Aims to incorporate AIDS instruction into a variety of different curricula in Japanese schools: biology, health, sex education, and so on, but also uses AIDS to teach information management, human rights education, scientific thinking, education in compassion, etc. Designed to make AIDS easy to teach, with practical materials for elementary school, junior and high school students - this constitutes the bulk of the book which is organized by grade level and then by curricular unit. Gives sample lessons on various topics; gives graphs of student responses to questions (What do you think of when you hear "AIDS"); gives what seem to be excerpted transcripts of actual lessons, including interactions between teacher and students. Includes discussion on discrimination against students with AIDS in US schools; bullying because of AIDS, etc.
