Secret mission: Angola

Award Books New York / Tandem Books London, New York. 1970, 156, [plus 4] p. [ads], paperstock very browned (wasn't meant to last) and bears owner's numerals. "First Award Printing" with a simplistic photodecorated cover (belt of bullets over wax seal, low budget functionary design), paperstock very browned not having been meant to last, mildish markings and creasings. Cover text reads, "Assignment no. 9: capture African rebel leader before Russians and Chinese get him. Only Sherman can handle this job, - and he's wanted for murder on two continents!" disformative "men's books" contribution put together quite possibly by the kind of outfit James Grady conjured up in Six Days of Condor. Or a stringer. One ad page is devoted to others in Smith's "chilling adventure story" series (go with Sherman to Corsica, where Chinese are trying to interfere with the local business; to China where a US computer secrets leak threatens war, and to Prague, Morocco, Istanbul and Tibet.
