Longshore Casual Rights Committee

LCRC Bulletin / Newsletter [two issues]

Longshore Casual Rights Committee, n.p.. n.d., Two issues of the mimeographed single-sheet newsletter, one called "bulletin," undated but apparently from mid-to-late 1960s, issued in the Long Beach area. Not found in OCLC. The Committee sought greater job rights for casuals: "The Casual Hall contrary to what the PMA or the ILWU would like people to think is a permanent labor hall. Many of the casuals have been on the docks for ten or fifteen years yet have no benefits, rights, or protection by the union." The story of a Long Beach worker who died of a heart attack after leaving work inspires a piece called "Safety is number one on the docks."
