Kindergarden Executive Board, Atlanta. [193-?], 96p., some minor spotting on cover otherwise very good first edition, trade paper format, frontis portrait of Jenkins autographed in the plate, generic sketches of both whites and blacks (especially in the title story), brown wraps slightly discolored and worn on spine. African American author from Georgia. Some unopened signatures, several tears in margins of leaves, mild external dust-soil. This book of short stories, published to benefit the Gate City Free Kindergarten Association, probably in the 1930s, contains one remarkeable piece: "Earnest of the Wings," a fifteen-page "Story of an Ambidexterous Colored Pitcher On a Northern College Team." The light-skinned protagonist and his team travelled to the South, where he had to pass for white in order to play against a Jim Crow team
