The Las Cruces Citizen, Las Cruces. 1948, 203p., foreword, illustrated throughout with photos and figures, small snag at the base of spine, otherwise very good first edition in darkened original yellow wraps with photo of the author on the cover. This autobiography was written and published in columns in the Las Cruces Citizen over a two-year period (thus the two publication dates) Noted in Adams "Six-guns & Saddle-leather" #113. This copy expecially interesting as the author's brother has scrawled a disclaimer and refutation of certain "facts" on the last page of the book; "the few things I differ from my brother . . . " "...my brother did not buy our clothes, only occasionally as a gift!" Material on Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, noted in Dykes' Billy the Kid #392. Also contains early chapters on the author's childhood in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
