Hagar's children; a drama with music, in three acts

Fault publications, Fremont. 1974, 118p., stills, text reproduced from typescript in first edition 7x8.5 inch untrimmed wraps, staplebound. Cast and crew lists, production notes, setting instructions, musical notation and lyrics for 3 songs, production photos shot by Jack Hamilton. Short tear in cover, else very good . Actor's Conservatory Theatre workshop production (Plays in Progress.) This play was published in conjunction with the play's premier at A.C.T. in San Francisco. Limited to 500 copies. Takes place during Christmas, a time of stress indeed, and one or several characters are Jewish. Strong dialogue; "an actors' play." Author explains that "Hagar's Children is the result of my experience as a staff member at a home for emotionally disturbed teenagers;" he makes a case for the interludes of song, which "early readers had disparaged," but proved in performance to have tremendous power, "one of the many surprises that awaited us as we rediscovered the script in rehersals"
